The Responsible Dog Owner Traits (...almost)

The 10 Commandments of the Quasi-Responsible Dog Owner

Are you a Responsible Dog Owner? Maybe?

What is Responsibility?

Webster Dictionary defines Responsibility as:

The quality or state of being responsible; as moral, legal, or mental accountability.

Responsibility relating to pet ownership covers a wide range of topics and areas. Just like any hobby.

A person has a responsibility to him/herself to make an informed decision about adding a pet to the household. Different animals have different needs and behaviours, as well as maintenance requirements. That person is the sole one to find the right match if they take the decision to own an animal in their lives.

"As a responsible dog owner, I am more than willing to comply with regulations.
Even the ones that are not written."

Can you truly say the above about yourself, without lying?
Hum..., not so much? Maybe?

Well, so how about being *almost* responsible? Or *less* Irresponsible? Would also that be too much to ask? Let’s see:

The Quasi-Responsible Dog Owner’s 10 Qualities:

  1. You NEVER assume everyone loves dogs. Actually, you recgonize MOST people do NOT.
  2. You NEVER let your dog bark for no reason. If it barks for A reason, it's shut up immediatelly
  3. You NEVER let your dog threaten, harrass, intimidate, annoy, touch, lick, jump... on anyone
  4. You NEVER take your dog to places that are meant for humans only
  5. You NEVER use the fake terms "adopted/ rescued/ service/ therapy/ comfort dog" excuses
  6. You ALWAYS pick up, clean up, hygienize, and dispose off properly after your dog. Anywhere.
  7. You ALWAYS keep your dog on a short REAL leash AND muzzeled when outside
  8. You ALWAYS keep your dog on YOUR property, fully controlled at all times
  9. You ALWAYS accept FULLY RESPONSIBILITY for whatever your dog does.
  10. You ALWAYS understand that dogs are NOT GODS, NO DEITIES, NOT PEOPLE.

There are more, many more, actually the one list above is just less than one tenth 1/10th of what a detailed Fully Responsible Dog Owner (soon) must be.

Anyway, any normal person can see it’s not difficult by any means. At least the part on being Responsible.

Dog owners, since they are the ones who decided to bring into their lives the responsibility of having a dog, or dogs, must also be fully responsible for:
  1. The Animal
  2. The People affected by the animal
  3. The Environment affected by the animal
So, are you a QUASI- Responsible Dog Owner?

If you truly are, my congratulations. Or my Quasi-congratulations.

That is the MINIMUM any civilized person would expect of you, dog people.

Aren't you going to become a Fully Responsible Dog Owner?

If you do change your attitude, for the better, together with your partners in crime (yes, most irresponsible acts are in fact crimes punishable by law), most people that today can not stand your dogs, and you, for good reason(s), will stop thinking about killing, kicking, beheading, disappearing, shooting, rehoming, chopping, poisoning… your so said beloved pet. Or prosecuting you. No doubt about it! At all!

Wouldn't that be better, for all of us, including your animal? Sure it would.

So why not to make an effort?

Otherwise if you do not want to make any effort at all, then just get rid of your dog for good and all is great!

You could get a Promotion, too!

Additional benefit is that you would be *promoted!* to a higher class of person:

From ODOr (Obnoxious Dog Owner) ► To Quasi-Responsible Dog Owner
Hopefully, in the near future, by acknowledging the mistakes made, crimes committed, and benefits achieved (yes, there are numerous positive changes when becoming a civilized person!), you ‘d want to take the next step:

From Quasi-Responsible Dog Owner  To Responsible Dog Owner

It all depends on you, Dog People.
