Dog Owner Convicted to Pay $200,000 for Dog Bite!

Bitting dog leads to conviction of dog owner to pay penalty of $200,000!

(This is an Already-Finalised litigation case, not a future-to-be one)

A jury awarded $218,868 to a DeKalb County, Georgia, USA, woman who was bit and wounded by her neighbor’s dog, her lawyer announced last week.

In July 2016, Sherry Whitfield was walking down her driveway on Lake Watch Drive after collecting her mail when her next-door neighbor’s Labrador-pit bull mix attacked her.

The 80-pound dog, which was loose, bit her on her left leg and knocked her down, according to a statement from her attorney, David Zagoria.

Whitfield, who was 50 at the time, suffered two deep bite wounds and had to undergo scar revision surgery.

Her medical bills totaled more than $20,000, the attorney said.

The dog’s owners argued they had not carelessly managed their dog and pointed out that the victim had no permanent injuries.
I - Of course not, they probably said they were fully responsible.
II - And now a person must be disfigured for life for a dog bite be taken seriously. Right (not).

Liberty Mutual insurance company offered Whitfield $40,000 prior to the trial, which lasted four days in DeKalb County State Court, Zagoria said.

Under DeKalb County’s code, owners must keep their dog on a leash if not on their property.

Congratulations to the very competent lawyer (a free ad for him):

Now you know, you get bitten, your spouse get bitten, your kids get bitten, your closest friends get bitten..., tell your very best lawyer to ask for the minimum of US$200,000. Dog owners deserve to pay that. And much more.

Guess what, this news is getting close to no attention in the media at all.

Why would that be...?

Once more, Congratulations Mr. Zagoria!
